Qwixx – Fast-Paced Fun With This Exciting Family Dice Game!

What is Qwixx, and how do you play it?
Qwixx is a short, laid-back, and simple probability game. It’s great for kids that are growing but not yet teens. Teaches them of probability and decision-making. You weigh the pros and cons of marking off numbers and shoot to collect as many points as possible.
What makes Qwixx different from other dice games?
Qwixx uses different colors of dice that you use to try to eliminate numbers. One of the biggest differences that I noticed with this game was the fact that even when it’s not your turn, you can still take part in trying to eliminate your numbers.

Can you explain the objective of Qwixx and how you win the game?
The objective of the game is to eliminate as many numbers as you possibly can the more numbers that you eliminate the higher the score you will have in the end. The person with the highest score at the end of the game is the winner.

How does the scoring system work in Qwixx?
Qwixx has broken up the scoring between the four colors. We will use the Red row as an example. If you eliminate six of the numbers in the red row, you will get 21 points for that row. There is a nice little guide at the bottom of the notepad for you. As you did with the red row continue with the other 3 rows. Before totaling up your points make sure to subtract your penalties if you have any. Once all the math is done that will be your final score.
Are there different versions or editions of Qwixx available?
So with Qwixx being a dice game, I did find a version that is a card game as well. So for people who would rather use cards to play you can. Here’s the link to the card version on Amazon. Qwixx (Card Version)

Can you play Qwixx with just two players, or is it better with a larger group?
Yes, me and my wife have played many games just the two of us. The game is not hindered by the amount of players that you play with. As you increase the number of players the game time goes down.
Are there any specific strategies or tactics to be successful in Qwixx?
I will tell you two different strategies that I came up with to try to be successful for Qwixx. The first strategy involves trying to play every single number that you can. When it’s another player’s turn try to use the numbers that they announce. If you can get lucky and end the game fast with this strategy, then you have a good chance of winning.
My strategy for Qwixx is to try to focus on one row to pile up points. You can get a total of 12 numbers marked off in a single row. As you mark off more and more numbers, it will increase the amount of points that you get for that row. I will start the game off normally trying to get the best numbers for the value of my rows. Then shortly after figuring out which row is going to be my best bet for eliminating numbers. I will transition into trying to focus on that one row the best I can.
The strategies are my own that I like to use but I am not an expert at Qwixx. These are just strategies that made sense in my mind that I am now passing on to you to try.

What are the components included in a Qwixx game set?
It’s a very short list of what comes in the Qwixx box. It comes with the game rules, a pad of premade score sheets, and of course the dice. You have to provide the pens or pencils yourself. The box is lightweight and very easy to pack in any kind of bag. You might even be able to fit it in your pocket.

Is Qwixx suitable for players of all ages, or is it geared towards a specific audience?
The age range for Qwixx is pretty wide. I’ve had my son who is eight years old play with us. He’s not exactly the best at the game, but he understands how it works and has fun with it. I also believe that this is a good game for older people as well. I would say that the age range for this game is between 8 and 100. Grandma Ginger wouldn’t mind playing this game, she would probably beat you.
How long does a typical game last?
Typically a game of Qwixx lasts about 15 minutes. It’s a very nice and short game. It’s easy to pick up, hand out, and play in under 20 minutes. If for some reason you’re waiting on something or waiting to go somewhere and you have 30 minutes to kill this is a perfect game.
Can you customize or modify the rules of Qwixx to make the game more challenging or interesting?
When going looking for modified rules for Qwixx I came across another article that was written very well. So I figured that I would just link you to that so you can read it there. She did a great job explaining everything. Here is the link to her website: https://www.amomstake.com/how-to-play-qwixx-game-rules-variations/
What do players typically enjoy most about playing Qwixx?
The thing I most enjoy about Qwixx is its simplicity. It’s not a hard game to learn and it’s also stress-free. Another nice thing about the game is that it is a fairly quick game. The size of the game is another enjoyable part, easy to stuff in a bag to take anywhere you want.

Do I have to use the white dice on my turn?
When I looked over the frequently asked questions of Qwixx, many people were having a hard time between the white dice and the colored dice. The misunderstanding comes from people, thinking that you must take both the white dice and the combination of white and colored. In fact, you only need to take one of the two.
For example, either do white + white dice, White + 1 Colored dice, or both white + white dice after this step then white + 1 colored dice.

Can you share any memorable moments or experiences?
I don’t have too many memorable moments playing Qwixx. Most of my memories just ended with me thinking I had the win and then shortly finding out that my wife beat me again. My wife is notorious for being the person who always wins in my family.
My Wife’s 2 Cents
ok, so I just want to start with I do not “always” win in my family. There are some games I’m just really good at. This just so happens to be one of those games but honestly, I feel like this game is more luck than anything. I really do enjoy this game because it’s simple, fun, and just a laid-back game that you can also get a little competitive in.
