What Disney Villains Come In The “Evil Comes Prepared” Expansion?

Evil Comes Prepared comes with Scar, Yzma, and Ratigan. Scar from The Lion King, Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove, and Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective.

These three villains all came from my childhood. Ratigan I remember from one of my younger memories. I don’t remember much from the movies but I do see some of the cards and I know they look familiar.

Yzma and Scar are both very well-known and popular. Lion King was often watched in my house growing up by my siblings and me. I think Emperor’s New Groove is my favorite between the two.

Should You Buy The “Evil Comes Prepared Expansion?”

I have a suspicion that out of all the Villainous expansion, its villains are the least popular of the bunch. I just feel like not many people probably know Ratigan and his story from The Great Mouse Detective movie. I barely remember it from my childhood, mainly just remember it exists.

Then there’s Scar and Yzma, although they are both great villains in my opinion, they just don’t seem to have much of a general intrigue like some of the other villains. For instance, for me when the expansion with Hades, I was excited to play him, but not so much when it came to Scar or Ratigan. I looked forward to playing Yzma due to just enjoying the movie growing up.

Overall, I think if you wanted to skip out on this expansion, you’d probably be alright. My wife and I, on the other hand, can’t help but try out all aspects of a game we love. We do the same thing with restaurants, we try everything out just to see if we like it, it’s fun for us to try something new and see what we think.

How Does Scar, Yzma, and Ratigan Win?

Scar – The objective on his villain card says “Start your turn with at least 15 Strength in the Succession pile.” Scar has a special mechanism for winning called his “Succession Pile.” For Scar to unlock the Succession pile, he must defeat Mufasa first. Mufasa is the first to be added to the Succession pile. Any heroes defeated after Mufasa are then added to the pile and totaled to the 15 Strength goal. Once Scar starts his turn with 15 or more Strength in his Succession pile he wins.

Yzma – Yzma’s villain card says “Defeat Kuzco using Kronk.” You’ll have to find Kuzco in one of your 4 fate decks. Once you do find him play Kronk. Kronk does not have the strength to defeat Kuzco so you will need The Dagger, or an Imperial Guard to help him defeat Kuzco.

Ratigan – Ratigan is super special in that he has two different ways to win. The first is by “Starting your turn with The Robot Queen at Buckingham Palace.” The secondary way only happens if Basil discards The Robot Queen, then the new objective is to “Defeat Basil!” Make sure you flip his Objective Tile so you can keep track of what his current objective is.

What Do I Think About Scar, Yzma, and Ratigan?

Scar – I didn’t know this at the time but many players are not a fan of Scar and his objective. Many are worried that there’s too much luck involved in trying to find Mufasa, which to me makes sense. If Mufasa is at the bottom of your fate deck, then there’s not much you can do. And Scar has a rough and painful fate deck. I like playing him for the challenge of it. The best advice I can give is to make a “kill location” near the middle, and try and bring all heroes to that location and defeat them.

Yzma – Yzma has those 4 fate piles that can make it a chore to find Kuzco. Keeping any info from your opponents will be key in your pursuit to find Kuzco. I also recommend hanging onto Kronk until you find and play Kuzco.

Ratigan – I like how many different items Ratigan has in his deck. Up until him, there wasn’t really a villain who relied on items as he does. One of the more unique and interesting aspects of Ratigan is his objective being double-sided. So if you fail at completing the first objective, you flip over his objective and now complete the second objective. Very cool, never seen them do a backup objective before.

Which Villain Is My Favorite In Evil Comes Prepared Expansion?

Yzma is my favorite in this expansion. She’s unique for having 4 different fate piles. I’m a fan of the movie and enjoy it for that reason too. I also like how her objective is pretty straightforward, find Kuzco and defeat him with Kronk.

Can You Mix All Villainous Expansions?

You can only mix expansions within the same universe in Villainous. For instance, Disney Villainous expansions can mix with other Disney expansions, but they can’t mix with Marvel Villainous expansions.

What Did You Think About The Game?

Villainous did it again with another awesome expansion! The graphics and character pieces are super cool. I honestly can’t remember much about Ratigan since he wasn’t really my favorite, but playing Scar was fun. It’s kinda surprising that some people don’t like him. Anyway, this game is definitely something I’d recommend for a fun night with your partner or family!
