Villainous: Perfectly Wretched – Should You Buy It? Here’s What You Need to Know!

Villainous: Perfectly Wretched expansion is one of Disney’s many great additions to the Villainous Series. Full of many well-known villains that even go back to the black-and-white Mickey Mouse era. I go over different questions that you might be asking yourself about this expansion. Enjoy.
What Disney Villains Come In Perfectly Wretched?
Cruella De Vil from the 101 Dalmatians. The evil and sinister she-devil that likes to scheme and plot the abduction of defenseless puppies.
Mother Gothel from Tangled. The fakest of them all, using Rapunzel for her magic hair to help keep her youth. Locking her away as her personal fountain of youth is shameful.
Pete from the old days of Mickey Mouse, specifically from Steamboat Willie. The big bad bully who always is up to no good. Well, now it’s your turn to be the Disney bully.
Should You Buy The Villainous: Perfectly Wretched Expansion?
I think that this expansion and all the villains that come with it are a great example of what a solid expansion looks like. I would recommend this expansion for almost all Villainous players. They add brand new mechanics for objectives. Each of the Villains are memorable and easy to learn. This has to be one of my favorite expansions to date. I played this expansion the most when It first came out and I was not disappointed. Check it out, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either.

How Do Cruella De Vil, Mother Gothel, and Pete Win?
Cruella De Vil – We all know what Cruella is after, and it’s those poor and innocent pups. Her objective is to collect these Puppy Tokens until she starts her turn with a total of at least 99. During the setup phase for Cruella, the Puppy Tokens are flipped faced down. Once revealed you’ll notice each Puppy Token has a location on it. When the Token is placed in the Realm, place the Puppy Token in the location at the bottom of the token. For you to retrieve the puppies you will need to move to these locations and have one of your henchmen capture them. Once you’ve collected all your puppies, you have won the game.
Mother Gothel – Mother Gothel is looking to keep Rapunzel in her tower for the rest of her life. Who cares as long as Mother Gothel gets her youth and beauty, right? In her objective, she’s trying to gain the Trust of Rapunzel. In her deck, she will have actions that will gain Rapunzel’s Trust and others that will take it away. Alongside that, some of the Heroes will take Trust. The objective for Mother Gothel is to start her turn with 10 Trust. Due to Rapunzel’s constant movement, and the interference of the Heroes in the Realm, juggling Rapunzel and gaining Trust will be a challenge.
Pete – Pete’s main objective is to complete 4 randomly selected Goals from his Realm, one Goal for each Realm. The possible Goals that may be selected are Power Play, Round Up, Rule The Realm, Strike It Rich, and Win Big. Since Pete is a special Villain, I will go over what the Goal is for each and tell you some common ways of completing the Goal.
Win Big: “Gain at least 4 Power from playing Play A Game at this location.” I put “Win Big” at the beginning of this list on purpose. As the game goes on, you will have more of your higher power cards on the board. This will take away from your chances of pulling the right amount for Win Big. So, you want to try and complete this Goal as soon as possible and make it a priority.
Power Play: “Spend at least 6 Power in one turn while Pete is at this location.” Power Play is also one of those Goals that you want to try and complete as soon as possible. It’s not as important as completing the “Win Big” Goal but it should be higher in your priority list than other Goals. The two best and easiest ways to complete this Goal is by playing double Items, or a triple Bandit Play. The longer the game goes on, the more cards that will be possibly played.
Round Up: “Start your turn with Allies totaling at least 10 Strength at this location.” Bandits are going to be your best bet for this Goal. Overall it’s pretty much the same as “Rule The Realm,” play Allies until you complete the Goal. Round Up & Rule The Realm are very similar in strategy, just make sure you focus on one at a time, don’t try juggling them, you’ll thank me later.
Rule The Realm: “Start your turn with more Allies than Heroes at each location.” Play your Allies around the realm to finish off this Goal. Sometimes you can be kind of sneaky with this one, by placing and defending different locations in your Realm.
Strike It Rich: “Start your turn with at least three Items at this location.” This Goal is going to be one of the harder Goals to complete for Pete. Make sure to keep back as many Horses as possible to try and move your Items to the correct locations. Utilizing both the Horses and Move Item Actions will help you to complete this Goal quicker, and then breathe easier for the rest of the game.

What Do I Think About Each Villain In Villainous: Perfectly Wretched?
Cruella De Vil
Objective: I thought the objective was fitting for Cruella. You find the hiding pups, send your henchmen to move in on their location, and capture them. I had fun getting to use Jasper and Horace, Jasper is obviously the best between the two.
Difficulty: I didn’t think that learning Cruella was too difficult. I learned early on that getting the Puppy Tokens that had 22 puppies was best. I then realized the true utility of the Roadster. Then it was just a balancing act of trying to keep my henchmen on the board. It can be more difficult when you’re focused by others, since you only have two henchmen that can capture puppies, you could end up having Puppy Tokens everywhere without a way to get them.
Mother Gothel
Objective: I have found great satisfaction from completing and winning with Mother Gothel. She can be a difficult villain due to the persistence of Rapunzel, and also the nature of her objective makes you have to be both planned and be able to improvise. It took me a few attempts to figure out how to best manipulate Rapunzel to stay in her tower and gain the most Trust as possible while doing it. After you started putting the pieces together, I found tons of excitement with every Trust I gained.
Difficulty: As I mentioned in the above Objective section, she can be a more difficult villain to play. The Fate Deck, plus the constant moving of Rapunzel will feel like you’re trying to juggle everything at once. It can be a bit overwhelming if you don’t take your time, plan, and remain flexible.
Pete
Objective: I love the fact that Pete has so many different combinations that comes with his Goals. It mixes it up with him and feels like you’ve got a new setup every time you play him.
Difficulty: You would think that he might be a complex villain because of all these combinations. I found that it seemed that once you get acquainted with his Goals and his Villain Deck. Pete seems to me to be a straightforward villain to grasp. He is one of my favorites to learn, and I still really enjoy him.

Which Villain Is My Favorite In The Villainous: Perfectly Wretched Expansion?
Pete is my favorite villain in the Perfectly Wretched expansion. I loved the black and white of the villain board. The objectives were fun and not too difficult to learn. I’m not some kind of special fan of Pete, but I’ve always thought that the old black and white Disney shorts were interesting. So, everything about Pete really drew me in and I always enjoyed learning and playing with him.
Can You Mix All Villainous Expansions?
You can only mix expansions within the same universe in Villainous. For instance, Disney Villainous expansions can mix with other Disney expansions, but they can’t mix with Marvel Villainous expansions.
